Our Team


Chris leads the Boston studio with a balanced approach based on his breadth of experience of over 18 years of award-winning design and hands-on construction. He thrives as the firm conductor. When faced with a complex situation involving many factors, Chris enjoys managing all of the variables, aligning and realigning them until things are arranged in the most productive configuration possible. He simply figures out the best way to get things done.

Prior to forming ThoughtCraft, he was a project manager and designer for notable firms including Hannah Gabriel Wells, DiMella Shaffer and Paul Lukez. His professional experiences include multifamily housing, custom homes, civic, university and commercial office buildings in Florida, California, and Massachusetts. Chris holds a Master’s degree and an Urban Design Certificate from M.I.T., a Bachelor’s degree and graduate studies in Building Construction Management from the University of Florida, and Associate’s from St. Petersburg College. Chris is a sports junkie. If he is not chasing his young daughter around then he’s either playing or watching golf, football, basketball, or racquet sports.

Chris Johns


Jason manages our operations in the Triangle area of North Carolina. He has acquired a variety of national and international experience over more than 18 years of practice. As the firm strategic thinker, Jason asks the tough what if questions to help see around the next corner. His strength of maintaining a wide perspective while seeing through the clutter and evaluating alternatives, keeps the firm and projects focused on the big picture.

Prior to forming ThoughtCraft, he was a project manager and designer for notable firms including design on the widely-acclaimed Morgan Library and Museum while at Renzo Piano’s office in Paris, DiMella Shaffer, KMW, and Paul Lukez in Massachusetts, and Takenaka in Japan. He has managed projects with budgets up to $40 million ranging from small residential to large multi-family, office, museum, and other civic structures. Jason holds a Master’s degree from M.I.T., Bachelor’s from the University of Florida, and Associate’s from St. Petersburg College. He is an Assistant Professor of Practice at NC State University and a former Chairman of the Chapel Hill Community Design Commission. Jason is also a licensed Real Estate Broker, Certified SCUBA Diver, and Amateur Chocolatier.

Don’t let his exceptional taste in 90’s rock music fool you as Jason’s optimism is very contagious. He fuels our team with his enthusiasm and up-beat approach for everything he tackles. Jason brings a strong sense of purpose to the firm. Experiences in small and large design firms, coordinating Habitat for Humanity construction projects, and development of prototype furniture for UNC Hospital empower him to make a difference as a conscientious manager. Jason facilitates the growth of ideas, systems and relationships for the firm. He was the 2015 winner of the Fentress Global Challenge focused on the future of design and founded a successful painting business during the recession. Jason earned his Master’s degree from North Carolina State University and Bachelor’s from Bowling Green State University.

Jason Patterson


Mark leads our rigorous approach to design processes including the integration of virtual reality technology into the firm. Every day starts at zero for Mark. He possesses an exceptional strength and unparalleled drive to execute at a high level within a limited period of time. Mark has unique experience working on award-winning national and international projects such as the Songpa Micro-Housing in Seoul and the McMullen Museum of Art at Boston College. His professional experience also includes multi-family housing, micro-housing, mixed-use high rise, civic, and university buildings in China, Korea, Dubai, Florida, and Massachusetts. He has worked at notable firms including Skidmore Owings and Merrill, Single Speed Design, and DiMella Shaffer. Mark holds a Master’s degree from the Harvard University Graduate School of Design and a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Florida. In his spare time he is most likely watching Florida football.

Mark Pomarico


Sasha possesses an exceptional rigor for learning and gathering information. He regularly applies this knowledge when approaching familiar design challenges which results in unique and unexpected solutions. Through his fascination of applying new thinking to simple ideas, Sasha has acquired a vast skill-set equipping him to be the firm back stop. He brings extensive and well-rounded design experience to the firm having worked on a range of multi-family housing, university, and commercial projects. Sasha holds a Bachelor of Architecture degree from the Boston Architecture College. To satisfy his competitive and inquisitive nature he spends his spare time working on design competitions, playing soccer, and experimenting with different cooking styles in the kitchen.

Nicole works as ThoughtCraft's controller ensuring the company finances are kept in good order. She has over twenty years of experience performing accounting, analysis and finance at both large and small firms. A graduate from Boston College with a BA in accounting and finance, she enjoys biking, painting and quilting in her spare time.
