Located on a harbor just a few steps from the Atlantic Ocean, the existing home has been in the client’s family for the last 100 years. It was time to breathe new life into the quaint coastal cottage.
The main volumes and framing of the existing house were preserved and surgically modified to create a full house renovation along with the addition of a primary suite to allow aging in place and year round inhabitation. Materials that recall the essence of the original cottage are used to connect the memory of what once was to the redesigned spaces.
